When you stay at the Faraway Inn you are also helping us to provide free volunteer Trap Neuter Return services to the Island City of Cedar Key, Florida.

We began our volunteer work October 2006. To date we have had 995 from the area of Cedar Key to Rosewood.

It is an ongoing process because people are always dropping cats off. Tourists also have been known to leave un-neutered cats behind after their long term stays.

Your stay allows us the funds we require to transport the cats to and from the surgery center in Ocala. It also allows us to caregive (feed, flea topical, medical) for several colonies after they have been put through the TNR program. Your stay also gives us the opportunity to help those who cannot afford the entire surgical expense if they have several in the colony.

The 501c entity we use is called Sheltering Hands, Inc. If you would like to make a donation on behalf of Cedar Key TNR you can do so easily. In the memo section of your check please put for Donation Towards Cedar Key TNR Surgery. The cost per cat is $20 which includes neuter/spay and vaccinations.

Email: shelteringhands@embarqmail.com   –   Phone (voicemail): 352-840-0663

Regular mail:  Sheltering Hands  –  PO Box 843  –  Williston, FL 32696

Another way you can help and costs you nothing is to order from smile.amazon.com .  Amazon donates 0.5% of the price of your eligible AmazonSmile purchases to your charitable organization of choice. We hope you choose Sheltering Hands by starting your shopping at smile.amazon.com

TNR has made a tremendouse positive impact within our island community. By staying at Faraway Inn you are helping us to afford to continue our volunteer work and keep our community clean and healthy.

Respectfully and Sincerely, Doreen and Oliver owners and innkeepers of Faraway Inn
