Oliver and I can not believe how blessed we are for the Faraway Inn and to be able to live in Cedar Key Florida and to be able to give back to our community in positive ways.
We believe that Cedar Key has a special Karma. If you respect the land, its life and the people good things will happen for you. We love our community and enjoy giving back in many ways. One of our biggest ways to give back is by Trap Neuter Return (TNR) of our island stray and feral cats. Oliver and I, since October of 2006 have had 934 cats humanely sterilized and vaccinated.
Here is where the karma comes in: Teri Mathis has written a book based on guest compilations from over 100+ Faraway Inn room journals. These journals are for our guest to write about their Cedar Key experiences, dreams, desires, where they ate, etc.
Teri Mathis published her first book “Notes from Faraway Inn” in order to help us raise funds for our TNR volunteer work. All money raised through the sales of “Notes from Faraway Inn” will be used to pay for future surgeries, medications and food for various cat colonies.
Books will be for sale at the Cedar Key Seafood Festival Saturday and Sunday, October 18 and 19. Teri’s both will be located in front of Drummond Bank. After the Festival books will be for sale at Faraway Inn and Cedar Key Welcome Center.
